Why Exterior Cleaning Quotes Vary So Much
Ask three companies to quote the same exterior cleaning job and you can get three very different numbers. It is confusing, and it tempts people to just take the lowest. But the spread usually reflects real differences in what is being offered, and understanding them lets you compare fairly rather than by price alone.

What actually drives the differences
Several real factors move a quote: the scope of work, exactly which surfaces and whether details like downspout flushing, screens or eaves are included; the method and equipment, soft washing and proper gear versus a cheap blast; insurance and overhead, which a legitimate business carries and an informal one does not; and the thoroughness, whether the job includes treatment, plant protection and cleanup or just a quick pass.
Two quotes can look far apart simply because one includes the whole job done properly and the other is a fast, bare-bones version of it.
Why the lowest is often the most expensive
A quote that is dramatically lower than the others is usually low for a reason: no insurance, a narrower scope than you realised, high pressure that risks damage, or no treatment so the growth returns in a season. The saving can turn into a repair bill or a repeat job, which makes the cheap quote the expensive one in the end.
This is not to say the highest quote is automatically best either. The goal is to understand what each includes, so you are comparing like with like.

How to compare fairly
Get the scope in writing from each company, so you can see exactly what is and is not included. Confirm they are insured, and ask how they will clean each surface. Once the scopes match, the price differences make sense and you can choose on value rather than guessing.
A fair quote reflects doing the whole job properly with insurance behind it. Photos and your address are usually enough for a company to give an accurate quote without a site visit, which makes it easy to gather comparable numbers.
